Yield about 4-6 patties

Ingredients

  • 1 15-oz. can black beans, drained
  • 3 tablespoons minced onions (about 1/4 small onion)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp chli powder
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • Oil for pan-frying

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the black beans, but them in a food processor and blend until half-way mashed.
  2. Add in minced onions, salt, garlic powder, parsley, and chili powder and pulse/mash to combine.
  3. A little bit at at a time, add the flour into the mix.  Pulse to combine.  You might not need all of the flour - we're looking for enough flour so that the patties stick together.
  4. Once you're happy with the consistency, form into 4-6 patties (depending on the size you're looking for).
  5. Heat enough oil to cover the bottom of a skillet over medium-high heat.  When the oil sizzles when you flick water onto it, it's ready for the patties.  Place the patties into the skillet and cook 2-3 minutes on each side.  When the patties have a nice crispy crust, they're ready to come off (but feel free to cook to whatever consistency works best for your preference).
  6. Serve on store-bought or homemade buns with some curly fires or tater tots!  Delicious!
